So, what is Decimal Zero?
I'm glad you asked.
I'm the person behind Decimal Zero LLC, a technology consulting business focused on helping small and midsize businesses deal with the software and technology they depend on.
I've been working with Microsoft technologies for more than 20 years, and I've spent a lot of that time seeing what happens when software gets old, systems become difficult to maintain, or a business ends up relying on technology that nobody really understands anymore.
My approach is pretty simple: don't change technology just because it's old. Understand it first. Then make an informed decision about what needs to change.
That might mean modernizing an application, fixing a database, replacing an aging system, moving something to the cloud, improving integrations, or figuring out whether newer technologies like AI can actually provide value.
The old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," applies here. You've probably been pitched on AI by now. AI can be incredibly powerful, but it isn't the answer to every problem. The key is understanding where it can provide real value and implementing it where it makes sense - not simply because it's the latest technology.
The goal is always the same: modernize where it makes sense, while minimizing disruption to the business.
I'm building Decimal Zero into the kind of technology consulting practice I wish more small businesses had access to: practical, technically experienced, and focused on solving the actual problem rather than selling the latest technology.
